The Rock House is a collaboration between Constant Flux and Carousel, organising monthly accessible and integrated gigs in Brighton. A unique event that is breaking down barriers for musicians with and without learning disabilities to play together in front of enthusiastic, integrated audiences. It always strives to be different and as forward thinking as anything else you might see in Brighton.
On the third Tuesday of every month. Dividing it’s time between two venues, The Green Door Store and The Westhill Hall, the night is very unique in it’s approach. Creating a space where musicians with learning disabilities and learning difficulties can develop and craft their live performance. The night began in September 2009 by musicians Richard Phoenix from Constant Flux
and Tom Cook
, started as a response to the lack of opportunities for musicians with learning disabilities to perform their music live in Brighton. It was born out of a desire from these musicians to regularly play and perform in front of an audience in their hometown… the focus was to provide as much stage time as possible for these musicians. Run originally as a purely volunteer-run project for over 2 and a half years, since 2012 The Rock House has been produced by Constant Flux in collaboration with Carousel, including support from Brighton Council, Youth Music and The Arts Council.
